pleasure be consequently arduous

I am that reader, the one who double fists. Left: poetry. Right: philosophy. Left: poetry. Right: the news. Left: Susan Holbrook makes me laugh in public places. Right: Susan Holbrook explores Judith Butler’s assertion that “the Social life of the body is produced through an interpellation that is at once linguistic and productive” (153). Left: In the last two weeks, the Harper Government has cut funding to eleven women’s groups. Right: I read “The main water supply pipe to the home is galvanized and the shut-off valve is located in the basement” (61) while oil bleeds into the Gulf of Mexico and dead turtles wash up on shore. Left: the “Co-operation” minister the odious Bev Oda says “funding was cut due to performance issues.” Right: the aleatory and premeditated tango in a joy is not the only fruit approach to textuality. Left: We will read the invisible onto the page in our next meeting. Right: We have read the queer family onto the page in our last meeting. Left: Women are a little less invisible for these efforts. Left: “The funding cuts were revealed a day after Conservative Sen. Nancy Ruth advised a gathering of women's groups that they risk a backlash from the government unless they “shut the f--k up” on the abortion issue. She said she fears there will be more of an anti-abortion response from her party if women's groups continue to speak out. “If you push it, there will be more backlash,” Ruth said. "This is now a political football. This is not about women's health in this country.” (http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Canada/20100504/Harper-womens-funding-100504/) Right: “Girl Watching” (52). Left: “Face to face to face to face” (55). Right: Maternal health to play a key issue in June’s G8 summit. Left: Poetry can reterritorialize and deterritorialize advertising and other harms. Right: A new report has added sixty-two more names to a growing list of missing or slain Aboriginal women and girls across Canada. The report by the Native Women's Association of Canada pegs the total as at least 582. (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2010/04/21/missing-women-native.html#ixzz0n02FQMRU) Left: “Security Pass” (42). Right: “Civilian death exceeds cost million trillion a toll half” (37). Left: “What was the conflict driving the conversation?” (70). Right: “you pat my belly, the old stomping grounds” (82). Left: “Mother is really just food” (9). Right: “wept ribbons of sand onto the slick hide of the stillborn calf” (69).
